In our recent webinar, EECVIs: Updates for Equine Practitioners, Dr. Marty Zaluski, Dr. Katie Flynn, and Dr. Janemarie Hennebelle joined us to discuss the development and growth of EECVIs.
Here, we’re sharing resources and Q&A from the webinar. If you still have questions related to this webinar, please contact us and we’ll add them to this list.
Questions and answers from the webinar
There were many questions submitted by webinar attendees, and not all of them could be addressed in the hour-long session. We have compiled the questions and worked with Dr. Zaluski, Dr. Flynn, and Dr. Hennebelle to provide answers to the best of our knowledge. Click on a topic to expand the Q&A.
EECVI Program Questions
Is there a minimum age requirement for horses that can participate in the EECVI program?
If you pull the EIA (coggins) on the same day of your health exam, I assume you can not write the health certificate until the negative Coggins results are in? Is that correct?
It was said that the horse owner needs a permit for each leg of the trip. Does this mean both to the destination and back to the origin?
If a horse travels from Montana to Kentucky and stays one short night at a fairground in Kansas, do they need a trip permit from Montana to Kansas and then Kansas to Kentucky, or is it one trip permit from Montana to Kentucky?
How often are new states added to the EECVI program?
What happens if an animal owner needs to stop in a non-participating state on their trip?
What states are participating in the EECVI program?
Do you need to issue an EECVI for each horse or can there be multiple horses on one EECVI?
